SELECTED TRINITY PROFILE INFORMATION Summary Trinity is located on the edge of downtown Fort Worth, at the crossroads of the famous museum and cultural district, a major teaching hospital, and new urban renewal projects. Mirroring the city, our ministry rests at the collision point between old and new. We are striving to grow our already highly engaged congregation, and to serve our community in unique ways. We seek the spiritual leadership to help lead us in this new century. Characteristics Trinity Lutheran Church is in a near downtown location. The zip code, with a population of about 27,000, has a wide range of incomes, home ages, prices, and types. There is significant redevelopment going on, but there are also very stable middle and upper-income neighborhoods here. Probably most significant to someone asking about Trinity is that our membership lives throughout the counties on the western side of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Our 'home' zip code is 76107, and about 13 percent of the 337 persons on our roster live in this zip code. Another 11 percent, 8 percent, and 6 percent live in the three zip codes to northwest, west and southwest of ours. The remaining 62 percent of our membership live in 49 other zip codes, with most of them in Tarrant, Johnson, Hood, and Parker Counties. Programs We provide a Christian based program of child care and education for ages six weeks to five years. The program is almost entirely used by those outside of the congregation and is well respected in the community. This program celebrated its forty fifth anniversary in 2009. We have established an endowment fund which must give approximately $45,000 to $60,000 annually to deserving recipients including scholarships to members and gifts to local and world wide ministries. Congregation Goals (All goals are of equal value thus they are not numbered) Work together to establish a new congregational mission with an emphasis on serving others. Become more participatory and enthusiastic in weekly worship. Improve our organizational operations and communication. Become more of a family by developing a comprehensive plan involving members in visitation and communication. Involve more of the congregation in Bible Study.
Energy Currently we are experiencing eagerness, visible enthusiasm and positive energy associated with the changes ahead at Trinity Lutheran Church (TLC). In fact, the TLC congregation had already begun to pursue long-range planning, focusing on mission and vision, prior to the beginning of the call process. We will complete this activity after the arrival of our new pastor, and we are encouraged that we already have a head start. We are also very excited about our Children's Center. It is not only an important revenue source but also an outreach opportunity to serve children in our community whose families may or may not be attending a church. Within the last few months, we have produced two new events that attracted good attendance and received very positive comments from the TLC congregation. The events taught biblical history while at the same time offered a pleasant social environment that inspired new connections among members
Purpose Trinity Lutheran's purpose is making Christ known, sharing God's love and Grace.
Guiding Principles 1. Jesus is Lord 2. God's Will. Nothing more, Nothing Less, Nothing Else. 3. Courage to be bold in speaking the truth. 4. Equip ourselves to love our neighbors as ourselves. 5. Obedience to the word in prayer and life. 6. We welcome Everyone. 7. Praise God with Joy and Thanksgiving.
Giftedness 1. We are talented and caring individuals who can be counted on to commit to an idea and to work to see the idea become a reality 2. We have an Endowment fund which must give away $40,000 +/- annually to help carry out the mission 3. There is a desire by our congregation to seek a new energizing vision that we can embrace
There are no insurmountable obstacles
which would prevent us from any mission. Mission The first priority is to find a Pastor who is willing and able to lead us in the Vision of a new ministry. It is not necessary that this person be the only person with the vision. It is important that this person be able to lead the congregation or suggest a resource to lead us to a vision. The next priority is for the Pastor to be able to recognize a vision that is big enough that we all can be energized by the Vision and guide us to the selection of the Vision. The third priority is for the Pastor to
show the enthusiasm for the Vision and to spread the enthusiasm to the
congregation and to the community. Significant History Over the years, one of the most significant things we have accomplished is our record of preparing members for the ministry. Many of our Pastors have made a practice of identifying those members who have a gift for the ministry. This has not been done only once. We have had eight people enter the ministry from Trinity over our history and we are proud of each of them. Denise Sager David Connor Jennifer Kivikko Jennifer Sagebiel Gold Bob Thompson Kyle Rouze Phillip Anderson David Bronstad
It was insight and encouragement from the Pastor that has made a difference. We would hope to continue to actively seek those candidates who could make a difference through professional ministry.
Trinity's Pastors
Erling Wold 1942 to 1949
In addition we have had numerous interns who have served us as they continued their education. They are too numerous to list them all but they have made significant differences in our congregation, and we trust that they have been positively impacted by Trinity also.
